Alex Merritt is a partner at the DeWoskin Law Firm in Decatur, Georgia. His practice focuses primarily on plaintiff's personal injury cases. He joined the firm in 2015 after several years of prosecuting felony criminal cases on behalf of the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted hundreds of felony cases, including murders, armed robberies, child molestations, domestic violence cases, and drug trafficking cases, among others.

Jamala earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois and her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School where she was an Executive Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Prior to forming ELS in 2013, Jamala was a member of (now) Eversheds Sutherland’s litigation team where she practiced for more than nine years. James L. Jason is a founding partner of Wiggam Law in Atlanta, Georgia. His practice focuses on representing individuals, businesses, officers, directors, shareholders, and partners in matters concerning the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Georgia Department of Revenue, and other state tax departments. He has successfully represented clients in the IRS’s recent crackdowns on syndicated conservation easements and micro-captive insurance disputes. Jason has always had a passion for helping others, including those less fortunate. While in law school, Jason worked for a year and a half at the Philip C. Cook Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic of the Georgia State University College of Law. Jason helped taxpayers who could not afford legal representation with their federal tax controversy and collection issues, including responding to IRS audit letters and CP2000 notices, working to settle IRS debt, and releasing an IRS levy or IRS wage garnishments.
His work at the clinic earned him the Highest Pro Bono Distinction at graduation, which was awarded for working more than 150 extra pro bono hours above the normal course requirements of the clinic. Jason continues to serve the Philip C. Cook Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic as a current Advisory Board member and by funding the Jason and Allyson Wiggam Fellowship for current clinic students.
Jason earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, magna cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law. While attending Georgia State, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Tax Student Award given by the State Bar of Georgia, Taxation Law Section. Jason also obtained an LL.M. degree in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He was named one of Georgia’s Legal Elite by Georgia Trend Magazine in 2015-2021 and a Super Lawyers Rising Star 2018-2022. Her family law expertise includes appeals, pre and postnuptial agreements, as well as complex property division and highly contentious custody cases. In addition, Jordan has given CLEs across the country on topics ranging from client relationships to proper trust account management. Jordan graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Classics, History, and Religious Studies. She then went on to attend the University of Arkansas School of Law to earn her J.D. After almost four years of practice with a high-asset family law firm in Houston, Jordan discovered the world of legal technology which ultimately brought her to Smokeball.
Jordan has authored and co-authored many articles that you can find in various state bar publications and around the internet. Passionate about giving back to her community, Jordan makes a point of taking pro bono cases whenever possible.
Jason is a true general practitioner, and experienced trial lawyer. Over the past 25 years, he has tried over 100 cases to judges and juries in both state and federal courts, and consistently achieves exceptional results for his clients, who include individuals, small businesses, and multi-million-dollar companies. Jason’s practice covers an eclectic array of areas, including commercial and business litigation, contract, trade secret, and unfair competition disputes, business “divorces” between owners/partners/ shareholders, construction law, landlord-tenant, probate litigation, real estate litigation (trespass, nuisance, quiet title), intellectual property (trademark and copyright infringement), personal injury resulting from automobile accidents and slip/trip and falls, and professional malpractice.
Jason is licensed to practice in the State of Georgia. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Fifth Circuit, and the Federal Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
