Ashton was born and raised in Thomaston, Georgia. She graduated from Mercer University with her undergraduate degree in 2011 and then from Stetson University College of Law in 2013. She completed a full-time work study program with the Honorable Billy Roy Wilson of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas in the Fall of 2013. Shortly after, Ashton moved back to her hometown of Thomaston, Georgia and began working as an Assistant District Attorney for the Griffin Judicial Circuit. She worked in that capacity for 9 years — the last 5 of those years prosecuting gang and RICO cases for the circuit. Ashton joined the Georgia Department of Law in 2024 as an Assistant Attorney General in the Gang Prosection Unit and is based out of the Macon Regional Office. In her free time, Ashton and her husband, Josh, stay busy being baseball, soccer, and dance parents to their 3 young children.
