Christina Essex is an attorney and consultant with over a decade of experience dedicated to the complexities of healthcare law. She is the founder of Proactive Principal Group, LLC, where she has channeled her extensive background in healthcare litigation and regulatory matters into a consulting practice designed to equip and empower healthcare providers with proactive planning and strategies needed to navigate the modern healthcare landscape. Her work focuses on demystifying complex legal issues and providing actionable solutions to the everyday challenges of medical practice, from documentation and audits to licensing and risk management.
Christina has served as a Partner and healthcare practice leader at well-respected firms in Atlanta, where she defended healthcare professionals in a wide array of high-stakes matters, including:
- Medical Malpractice (including long-term care) Defense;
- Payer audits and audit appeals (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial);
- Medical board investigations and administrative proceedings;
- State and federal investigations; and
- Healthcare regulatory and compliance issues.
Before her return home to Georgia, Christina honed her skills at prominent law firms in Indiana and Pennsylvania. Her experience in multiple states has given her a broad perspective on the evolving challenges facing the healthcare industry.
Christina graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and obtained her Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University. She is licensed in Georgia, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. Additionally, Christina has been consistently recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising Star in both Georgia and Indiana. She was also honored as one of the National Black Lawyers Top 100 in 2019.
