Hon. Dax Eric Lopez

Dax Lopez is native of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Dax obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Vanderbilt University and his J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, where he served as president of the Vanderbilt Bar Association and as an editor on the Vanderbilt Journal Transnational Law.
After graduation, Dax served as the law clerk for the Hon. Hector M. Laffitte in the Federal District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Dax returned to Atlanta in 2002 and worked for three firms until 2010, Holland & Knight, LLP; Ashe, Rafuse & Hill; and Foltz & Martin LLC.
On August 10, 2010, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Dax to the State Court of DeKalb County, where he presided over both criminal and civil matters for 11 years. Dax also presided over the only Spanish speaking DUI court in Georgia.
In 2021, Dax left the bench to join DelCampo Grayson Lopez, LLC where he handles wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases involving medical malpractice, trucking accidents, product liability, and premises liability.
Dax is a past president of the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association and the Cooper Inn of Court. He also serves on the regional boards for both the Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee. He is a former Trustee of Leadership Georgia and former member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials. Dax remains active in and committed to several other civic and community organizations.
Dax is married to immigration attorney and former State Representative Zulma Lopez. Together they have 4 wonderful and very active children.
