Gary Chester


Gary Chester is a New Jersey attorney who has enjoyed a multi-faceted 40-year career. After becoming licensed in 1983, Gary split his time between the practice of law and reporting sports and sports law issues for WFAN Radio in New York, KMOX Radio in St. Louis , WFLA Radio in Tampa and others.  He has contributed legal analysis on sports issues to CNN, The New York Times, The Hartford Courant, The Miami Herald, The Sports Business Journal, ESPN Sportsticker, and FoxSports.com. Gary is currently a senior writer for Sports Litigation Alert, the leading online resource for sports attorneys.

Gary tried a variety of civil cases, including antitrust, products liability, and sports negligence cases, for several insurance companies and for private clients before starting his own practice in 2014. He has served as an adjunct professor at three colleges, including Montclair State University since 2008, where he teaches Sports Law, Business Law, and the Law of Hospitality and Tourism. His entertaining and dynamic continuing legal education seminars have been met with rave reviews across the country.

Gary holds a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin. He has been conducting national CLE programs since 2014.
