Mark W. Johnson is Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Mativ Holdings, Inc., a global manufacturer and distributor of specialty materials.  Mr. Johnson is responsible for overseeing global legal matters and compliance activity, as well as leading the audit and ESG functions.  He also serves as the company’s corporate secretary and directs all legal support for M&A activity.  Prior to joining Mativ, Mr. Johnson served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Kimball International, Inc. and President of its Hospitality business.  In addition to managing all of Kimball’s legal affairs, Mr. Johnson led a business unit that was the country’s leading hospitality furniture provider.

Prior to joining Kimball, Mr. Johnson was Deputy General Counsel of Newell Brands Inc.  Mark served in various roles of increasing responsibility at Newell, ranging from leading support for the company’s international legal work to directing the company’s government affairs activities.  Mr. Johnson began his legal career as a commercial litigator at the international law firm McGuireWoods in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Mr. Johnson earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and his undergraduate degree in business management from Hampton University. 

Mr. Johnson has been recognized by Savoy Magazine as one of the most influential African American attorneys in America.  He has served on several non-profit boards and is affiliated with several professional and industry associations.
