Ron Lloyd has more than 35 years of experience handling impaired driving cases, formerly as a State Trooper (Sergeant) with the Georgia State Patrol and currently as an Impaired Driving Consultant, Trainer and Expert Witness in the private sector.  As a Georgia State Trooper, he made nearly 1000 DUI arrests and was a member of the Georgia State Patrol’s Elite “Alpha Team” DUI Task Force. He also served as the Georgia State Patrol’s Impaired Driving Training Coordinator, responsible for training Georgia State Troopers on how to properly investigate and effectuate DUI arrests, using the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) training curriculum.

As a law enforcement officer, Ron Lloyd was an International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)/NHTSA Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Instructor, as well as a NHTSA DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor. As an instructor, he has trained thousands of professionals in this field, including, but not limited to, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, judges and attorneys from across the United States and Canada on impaired driving-related topics.

Ron Lloyd is recognized nationally as an Impaired Driving Expert, and he has lectured for numerous professional organizations, such as, the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education (ICJE) of Georgia, The Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) of Georgia, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), The National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia, Georgia Safety Management System, Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) Crime Lab, Georgia Police Academy, as well as others. He has also been a speaker at the prestigious Harvard University for the National College for DUI Defense on multiple occasions. 

Ron Lloyd was presented with an award from The National College for DUI Defense at the 2019 Winter Conference in Los Angeles, CA for his contributions and instruction on impaired driving-related topics. He was also honored as one of the "Best of 2017 Highest Rated Speakers of the Year” by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), voted on by seminar attendees from all NACDL seminars throughout the year.
