Mr. Jason Hayes Broth

Jason Broth has been a DeKalb County employee and Decatur resident since 2006. Growing up in southern California, Jason traveled to New York for his undergraduate education at Vassar College. After graduation, he returned to his home state, but this time in the north. He graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law with his J.D. Degree in 2006. He subsequently became a member of both the California and Georgia State Bars and has practiced law in both states in various capacities.

Currently, Jason proudly works as a DeKalb County Public Defender providing legal defense to indigent individuals charged with crimes that occurred in DeKalb. In addition, he supervises other public defenders in service of this same mission which he sees as vital to the functioning of his current hometown. As of 2021, Jason was made the DeKalb County Public Defender's first ever "DUI Specialist." In that role, Jason has represented dozens of clients charged with DUI in DeKalb County State Court. In addition, he supervises the work of the assigned courtroom public defenders in all of Dekalb State Court on all of the DUI cases within the office. Further, he co-counsels with Superior Court public defenders on all of the offices DUI-related felony charges including on all first degree vehicular homicide cases. In these capacities, he has argued a wide array of DUI motions in both the State and Superior Courts as well as representing people through trial.
