Hon. Patricia Walters Laine
Hall County Probate Court
Judge Laine was born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Furman University and a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. After spending two years as a law clerk/staff attorney for the five Superior Court judges in the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, Judge Laine returned home and spent ten years in private practice in Gainesville. In 2012, she was elected Hall County Probate Court Judge. During her three terms in office, she has served the Council of Probate Court Judges in many roles, including a two year term as Chair of the Probate Court Judges Training Council and presently as Vice President of the Council of Probate Court Judges. She is also a member of the Northeastern Circuit Bar Association.
Judge Laine loves her hometown of Gainesville as well as Hall County and is committed to the community. She is active in her church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, as well as being a Girl Scout troop leader for over 16 years. She is board member with Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Gainesville’s Regional Advisory Board and can make a mean S’more. She also serves as a volunteer coach of Gainesville High School’s Mock Trial team.
When not working, Judge Laine is a beekeeper and loves to sew. She and her husband Jesse have two adult daughters.
