An experienced first-chair litigator, Jake Evans has litigated complex, high-stakes cases across practice areas in federal and state courts throughout the United States. Clients trust Jake with their most challenging matters and depend on Jake’s creative approaches and precise execution to pursue positive outcomes in the face of daunting circumstances.
Jake Evans’ litigation practice focuses on class actions, disputes involving breach of contract and fiduciary duties, residential and commercial real estate (including wrongful foreclosures, partitions, quiet title actions, and commercial leases), restrictive covenants involving non-compete, non-solicitation, and confidentiality provisions, business dissolutions, derivative corporate claims, note defaults and workouts and intellectual property, including patents, copyrights and trademarks. Thriving under pressure, Jake has served as lead counsel in numerous high-profile cases, including those appearing before the Supreme Court of the United States, entailing national media coverage and making Georgia history.
Having led Georgia’s State Ethics Commission and being intimately involved with government at all levels, Jake has a flourishing government practice. Jake represents companies and individuals responding to government investigations by state Attorney General Offices, U.S. Attorney’s Offices, the DOJ and other state and federal agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission and Securities and Exchange Commission. He also represents companies and individuals before Georgia state and local government agencies, including licensing boards, state commissions and procurement agencies, and has considerable experience with bid protests. Jake oversees campaign finance matters, including candidate and independent expenditure committee/PAC filings and responds to campaign finance complaints at the state and federal level.
A strategist at his core, Jake also serves as outside general counsel to numerous companies, large and small, helping them navigate thorny legal problems. Jake has overseen large mergers and acquisitions, agreement drafting and negotiations, economic development transactions, international trade investigations and varying regulatory compliance matters.
Philip George is an experienced litigator with a focus on complex commercial litigation. Mr. George concentrates his practice in matters involving business litigation, disputes involving breach of contract, fiduciary duties, and other business torts, restrictive covenants, maritime law, real estate, and litigation involving government-adjacent entities.
Mr. George has deep experience at all stages of litigation in federal and state courts. He routinely defends companies in high-stakes litigation, including at trial, throughout discovery, and on appeal. He has served as lead counsel at trial, defended and taken numerous depositions, has oral argument experience, and routinely drafts complex motions. He has a wealth of experience working on appeals, including in Georgia appellate courts and the Eleventh Circuit, and has served as appellate counsel at trials in several high-profile cases. Mr. George has experience ranging from bet-the-company litigation to smaller cases involving thorny legal issues.
Mr. George is actively involved in the Atlanta Bar Association’s Litigation Section, where he serves as Chair of the Publications Committee and is the editor of the Litigation Section’s quarterly publication, The Litigator.
Alex Bartko is a seasoned litigator with a background in civil litigation and risk management. Currently serving as the Associate General Counsel for Pep Boys, Alex oversees all litigation for the company, including commercial disputes, auto and general liability dockets, as well as the company's asbestos docket. His work focuses on balancing business objectives with legal strategy to minimize risks while maximizing favorable outcomes.
Before joining Pep Boys, Alex was a litigation partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, where he handled significant cases involving contract disputes and business torts. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Emory University School of Law, where he teaches an advanced trial techniques class.
Alex holds a J.D. with honors from Emory University School of Law and a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Georgia. When not practicing law, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, watching the Bulldogs play, coaching soccer, and playing golf.
Melissa J. Perignat serves as General Counsel for TPA, handling and coordinating all legal matters across all asset classes for the company. Melissa has over 18 years of commercial real estate experience. Prior to joining TPA, Melissa was a partner with the law firm Holt Ney Zatcoff & Wasserman.
Charles “Chuck” P. Boring is an experienced trial attorney, having litigated several of the highest-profile cases in Georgia over the past two decades. Chuck represents clients in high-stakes civil litigation, governmental and internal investigations, and white-collar criminal matters. He has extensive experience handling cases in the spotlight and navigating the public relations aspects of matters involving individuals and entities attracting significant media attention.
As a former prosecutor and lead judicial ethics enforcement official for over 20 years, Chuck has tried well over 100 cases resulting in successful jury verdicts involving public corruption, murder, human trafficking, sexual assault, technology-facilitated crimes, and child abuse in several jurisdictions across the state. He has also successfully defended public officials at trial and on appeal regarding their right to hold public office. A Fellow in the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, Chuck is recognized as an expert in trial advocacy, complex investigations, and judicial and legal ethics.
Prior to joining the firm, Chuck was the Director of the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission (JQC), leading the state agency responsible for training and advising all state-level judges on legal and ethical issues, as well as investigating and prosecuting complaints of judicial misconduct. Before being named Director of the JQC, Chuck was the Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney for Cobb County, Georgia, responsible for supervising the Special Victims Unit, Office Training, and other divisions in the office. Chuck previously served as a homicide, major case, and special victims prosecutor in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and as a prosecutor in the Coweta Judicial Circuit. Chuck has also briefed and argued numerous cases before the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Georgia Court of Appeals.
In recognition for his trial work, Chuck was named Georgia’s Assistant District Attorney of the Year for 2017. Additionally, Chuck received Attorney of the Year Awards for the Cobb Judicial Circuit (2016, 2013) and the Atlanta Judicial Circuit (2007), and the Trial Attorney of the Year for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit (2006). In 2014, the Fulton County Daily Report named Chuck as a “Rising Star” among attorneys under 40.In addition to his work in the courtroom, Chuck has trained judges on judicial ethics, and attorneys, law enforcement officers, public officials, medical providers, non-profit organizations, and business community partners, on investigations, crime prevention, and legal ethics, among other legal matters. In 2011, Chuck traveled to Africa to help train representatives from the countries of Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Eritrea in the investigation and prosecution of human trafficking and smuggling cases. Chuck is a frequent lecturer and presenter locally, nationally, and internationally, and is an Adjunct Law Professor at Georgia State University College of Law. Chuck has testified on numerous occasions as a subject matter expert before Committees in the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate regarding legal issues coming before the Georgia General Assembly, and he has assisted in drafting several bills that have been signed into law, including those positively impacting survivors of sexual abuse and human trafficking.
Chuck is a graduate of Georgia State University College of Law, where he clerked for Senior Superior Court Judge William W. Daniel and edited and re-wrote portions of Judge Daniel’s preeminent trial treatises, Daniel’s Georgia Handbook on Criminal Evidence and Daniel’s Georgia Criminal Trial Practice. Chuck earned his undergraduate degree in Communication Arts with a minor in Journalism from Georgia Southern University.
Laurie Webb Daniel is a known resource for motions, appeals, and strategic trial
support in high stakes litigation. She represents clients nationwide in state and federal
courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, in cases ranging from complex business
litigation to torts involving catastrophic injury such as products liability, premises
liability, and wrongful death matters.
In other words, Ms. Daniel is a generalist with an appellate specialty. Her forte is
combining appellate skills with substantive expertise to position cases for a successful
outcome, often working with trial counsel from other firms to achieve the best results
for their clients.

client as a matter of law in case alleging defamation and negligence in testing of
government contractor's work.

? Defended Georgia’s statutory cap on punitive damages against challenges
brought under the State Constitution.
? Reversed sanctions rulings in a number of cases ranging from default judgments
to oversized attorneys’ fee awards.
? Achieved favorable resolution by settlement of cases involving jury verdicts in the
$100 million range.
? Obtained reinstatement of a $100 million trade secrets claim against a dominant
government contractor in the aerospace sector.
? Obtained order granting post-trial motions after a $37 million jury verdict was
entered against client on a trade secrets claim in the government contracting
arena.
? Won rehearing en banc resulting in the Eleventh Circuit’s vacating substantial
sanctions under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act.
? Won affirmance of summary judgment on behalf of subdivision developer in
putative class action brought after live munitions were discovered behind the
middle school serving the development, which was built adjacent to a World War
II military practice site.
? Obtained reversal of judgments in antitrust matters ranging from predatory
pricing to patent litigation.
? Secured reversal of $8 million jury verdict in medical negligence and advertising

Lynette has been a licensed attorney in Georgia since 2014 and currently serves as the Senior Staff Attorney for the Georgia State-wide Business Court, presided over by the Hon. William “Bill” Grady Hamrick, III. In that role, she manages the Court’s case docket and supervises its law clerks and externs, among other Court Administration responsibilities. Lynette was part of the team that helped establish the State-wide Business Court, which was created through a constitutional amendment in 2018 and began accepting cases on August 1, 2020. The first new statewide court in Georgia in more than a century, the Business Court is the only trial court in Georgia with statewide jurisdiction and is focused on providing specialized expertise for the efficient adjudication of complex business and commercial cases.
Prior to joining the State-wide Business Court, Lynette served as the Director for the Metro Atlanta Business Case Division, providing support to the Business Case Divisions of Fulton County State and Superior Courts and Gwinnett County State and Superior Courts. She also served as the Staff Attorney to several of the Fulton Business Case Division Judges, including the Hons. Alice D. Bonner, Kelly Lee Ellerbe, John J. Goger, Elizabeth E. Long, and Melvin K. Westmoreland. Lynette was honored by the Atlanta Bar Association for her work with the Metro Atlanta Business Case Division as Fulton County Courts Employee of the Year in 2019.
Before joining the Metro Atlanta Business Case Division, Lynette clerked in the Superior Court of Fulton County for the Hon. John J. Goger, managing a docket of both civil and criminal cases. She also previously interned with the Georgia Department of Law's Consumer Protection Division and with a Newnan, Georgia law firm. Before entering the legal field, Lynette worked in the construction management industry as a marketing, business development, and recruiting manager and during that time served on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.
Lynette earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and International Business (magna cum laude, advanced honors), Master of Business Administration (summa cum laude, salutatorian of graduate cohort), and Juris Doctor (magna cum laude), all from Georgia State University. She is a member of the Order of the Coif, Georgia Council of Court Administrators, Georgia Hispanic Bar Association, Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Congress, and World Affairs Council of Atlanta. Lynette is a registered neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, serves as a Barrister with The Judge Clarence Cooper American Inn of Court, mentors law students through various programs, and volunteers regularly with the Georgia Latino Law Foundation, among other charitable affiliations.
